Join us on Australia Day for a fun light-hearted approach to yoga philosophy for beginners.
There are eight limbs or parts to the practice of yoga – the physical shapes of the asanas (which is what western yoga usually consists of) are just one limb of the eight. The name in Sanskrit is Ashtanga yoga.
In this workshop we will use the simple shapes of one limb – the asanas – to explore and explain another limb – the Yamas and Niyamas, which are the moral and ethical disciplines of yoga. This very practical ‘beginners’ approach to the philosophy of yoga will break it down and make it accessible to everyone.
- Find out what the yamas and niyamas mean and how to apply them in your practice and in your daily life.
- Easy to understand introduction to Astanga Yoga
- Simple asana practice – appropriate for beginners
- Even though we are looking at philosophy it won’t be ‘heavy’
- Practical not theoretical
